Having played sports (lacrosse, soccer, hockey) all my life. I know importance they represent not only to the community, but to the sports enthusiast and even the business community.
Look at Iroquois recreation complex in whitby. Sports tournaments generate a thriving economy for all the local businesses around. Hotels, restaurants, etcc
I commend Clarington on a job well done and am looking forward to visiting the turf: as a player, an avid sports enthusiast and as a community member.
