Thanks to the wonderful physios at Active Recovery in Courtice for the treatment! Pounding the pavement takes it's toll but not today!
Another beautiful day of canvassing in the ward 1 community. Great meeting and chatting with everyone. Not only do I appreciate the support, I also appreciate all your requests for lawn signs Let's go canvassing. I'll be canvassing today. Drop me a personal msg if you would like to join. The more the merrier! Come meet new people in the community. All ages welcome! Cannot say 'Thank You' enough! For the support, for the encouragement, and for the chats on how we can make our community better. Just read a great article on how councillors in the Hamilton area are allowing urban farms, community gardens and faem stands in reaidential and institutional areas, open space and parks. I remember watching a ted talk( http://youtu.be/EzZzZ_qpZ4w) on how residents of Compton started growing gardens on their boulevards bc fresh produce wasn't acessible. Having farms and fresh produce so close here in Clarington makes us extremely lucky. The hamilton article is somewhat similar. We have so much open space in Clarington. Why not visit this idea. Create community gardens which will bring residents and the community together over a lunch or dinner that was made with the local bounty. Here's the article. Let me know what u think. Drop me a line if u have any questions. http://www.thespec.com/news-story/4862806-hamilton-councillors-clear-way-for-urban-farming/ Awesome meeting everyone today. The support and feedback that all of you gave is greatly appreciated! Here's the list of advanced polls. ClaringtonOctober 18, 2014 between 10:00am and 5:00pm Garnet B. I am grateful that Clarington families support me in my quest to becoming your potential local ward 1 councillor. I will continue to work hard, and be the representative that you want! I absoutely cannot praise my supporters enough. I will keep showing my appreciation to all those who have supported me. I had the pleasure of sitting in on last nights council meeting. I attended as a spectator to support the Enniskillen Environmental Association (a non-profit group who's aim is to protect the Oak Ridges Moraine thereby looking after the health of Ontarions) http://www.change.org/en-CA/organizations/enniskillen_environmental_association They are a group of citizens standing up for residents against hydro one and the proposed construction of the super transformer in Enniskillen. Dr. Cherry, a very well respected professor, researcher and hydrogeologist had a very informative non-biased presentation on the -ve impact that this 'super transformer' WILL have on not only the oak ridges morraine but Ontarios interconnected aquifers and safe drinking water sources. He advised council that there is a need for further studies before a conclusion can be met and that this is also a landmark case in the protection and sustainment of the health of the moraine. As a Health science graduate, and a post university graduate in public health. I know the importance of safe drinking water! Water is the basis of all life and we have to protect it....bottom line! Please check out both websites and support the EEA and Clarington in protecting our groundwater! The support that i've been receiving from residents of ward 1 is outstanding and humbling. I'm appreciative that many residents are supporting me by placing a sign on their immaculate properties. It's not always about the number of signs candidates put up but the suppprt behind the signs! I look forward to meeting ALL you ward 1 'ers, and will continue to work hard to be your potential representative Having played sports (lacrosse, soccer, hockey) all my life. I know importance they represent not only to the community, but to the sports enthusiast and even the business community. Look at Iroquois recreation complex in whitby. Sports tournaments generate a thriving economy for all the local businesses around. Hotels, restaurants, etcc I commend Clarington on a job well done and am looking forward to visiting the turf: as a player, an avid sports enthusiast and as a community member.
