I had the pleasure of sitting in on last nights council meeting. I attended as a spectator to support the Enniskillen Environmental Association (a non-profit group who's aim is to protect the Oak Ridges Moraine thereby looking after the health of Ontarions) http://www.change.org/en-CA/organizations/enniskillen_environmental_association
They are a group of citizens standing up for residents against hydro one and the proposed construction of the super transformer in Enniskillen.
Dr. Cherry, a very well respected professor, researcher and hydrogeologist had a very informative non-biased presentation on the -ve impact that this 'super transformer' WILL have on not only the oak ridges morraine but Ontarios interconnected aquifers and safe drinking water sources. He advised council that there is a need for further studies before a conclusion can be met and that this is also a landmark case in the protection and sustainment of the health of the moraine.
As a Health science graduate, and a post university graduate in public health. I know the importance of safe drinking water! Water is the basis of all life and we have to protect it....bottom line!
