Objectives
As your Ward 1 councillor for Clarington, I will represent YOU... the people of Courtice, Enfield, Mitchell Corners, and Solina. We will work together to make Clarington a better place to Live, Work, Play and Grow.
- Keeping Taxes Low
Will work towards keeping taxes from rising, while maintaining and improving current infrastructure. Will aim to implement tax relief for seniors on fixed budgets
- Protect and Sustain the Natural Environment
Will uphold the protection and security of the natural environment by ensuring that; Air Quality, Safe Drinking Water, Wet Lands, Agriculture and Water Sheds are studied and kept safe - Creating Transparency & Advocating for local issues
Will keep the public informed about local issues dealing with:
- Infrastructure - needs to accommodate growth(courtice rd expansion, South Courtice congestion, northern roads remediation)
- The incinerator(Durham York Energy Centre) - public reassurance with air quality testing, safety and reliability)
- Future expansion of GO transit (Metrolinx) infrastructure & supporting infrastructure.
- How and Where Tax Revenue is being allocated
- Promoting Tourism, Supporting and Attracting Business
Will promote Tourism, create and maintain local sustainable jobs in Clarington while also encouraging youth employment. Creating quality, high paying jobs is a must for the area. Attracting big business (like Toyota etc..) will help hard working families thrive. Residents will have more time to spend with family as a result of eliminating the commute. - Helping to create Safe, & Healthy Communities (Built Environment)
Advocating for AND supporting SMART communities that promote the built environment (sustainable communities that encourage healthy lifestyles - parks, walking paths, and bike paths). It's important to protect established neighbourhoods from intensification.
- Respecting rural communities by minimizing high density development
- Keeping Clarington a Family and Environmentally friendly community
- Supporting law enforcement and neighbourhood watch programs in order to decrease thefts and bring awareness to the community
- Updating parks & play structures (increase splash pads) - Clarington is a growing community for young families and some parks are in dire need of updating/renovation
